Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes announced this morning that he will run for re-election.
This year is the end of his first term in office.
He replaced longtime Sheriff Lamar Glover in an election four years ago.
Before that, he spent more than 20 years in law enforcement, most recently with the Dothan Police Department.
Sheriff Hughes lists some of his accomplishments in office as increasing the number of deputies on patrol, providing deputies essential law enforcement equipment, increasing training, and facilitating the arrest of hundreds of drug offenders and violent criminals.
Sheriff Hughes says, “I appreciate all of the support I have received from the citizens of Houston County and I look forward to serving as their sheriff for another term.”
