Houston county officials are getting ready to test the new "code red notification system"
Here's how it works: during a dangerous weather event or emergency, an automated message will call every registered phone number in the effected area.
This Thursday, officials will test the system.
“Remember this, it's a reverse 911 system and we got to have your information in the database. We think we've got probably 90% in our database but we'd like to get 100% or pretty close to it,” said Houston Co. EMA Director Clark Matthews.
If you don't receive a call Thursday and would like to be on the list, visit www.dothanhoustoncountyema.org.
Click on "notification system" to sign up for the code red alert.
