Pipe Coatings Plant Coming to Bessemer

BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) - A Pennsylvania company says it's planning to put a pipe coatings plant in Bessemer's Interstate Industrial Park.

The Birmingham News reports that Liberty Group of Morrisville, Pa., says it will invest $5 million in the plant, which will be used to store, process and coat pipe. The plant is expected to provide 80 jobs.

Liberty applies anti-corrosion and protective coatings inside
and outside of pipe used by the natural gas, oil, petrochemical, water and wastewater industries.

Don Barder, president of Liberty Coating, says the company also may establish a regional sales and distribution operation at the site.

Why can't our Houston County Commission get over the gambling thing at country crossing and bring these kind of jobs to the county. They are wasting time on CC which pays just above minimum wage for most of the jobs. These manufacturing jobs would be much better wages!
