Blount County Man Shot by 2-Year-Old Grandaughter

ONEONTA, Ala. (AP) - A 54-year-old Blount County man is
recovering after being accidentally shot by his 2-year-old

Blount County Sheriff Loyd Arrington said the man, whose name
has not been released, was driving along Alabama 75 Friday
afternoon with his 5-year-old grandson in the front seat and the
girl in a car seat in the back.

A handgun was in the back seat with the girl.

Arrington said the toddler somehow discharged the gun and the
bullet went through the front seat into the man's back and exited
his body.

He said an ambulance happened to be traveling behind the injured
grandfather and he pulled over and flagged them down.

Arrington said the man was treated at the scene and then taken
to a hospital but his condition and the name of the hospital was
not known.
