Alabama Teen Dies in Wreck

GRAND BAY, Ala. (AP) - A 19-year-old Bayou La Batre girl died
after she was thrown from a vehicle she was riding in near Grand

State trooper spokesman Cpl. Steve Smith tells the
Press-Register that Sarah Denise McGuff was riding in the passenger
seat of a Ford Mustang when the driver took a curve too quickly at
2:40 a.m. Friday. Smith says the car left the road, hit a concrete
culvert and then went airborne and hit a tree.

McGuff was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, 18-year-old
Brittany Lea Gates was taken to the University of South Alabama
Medical Center, where she was listed in critical condition

Smith says neither girl was wearing a seat belt. The accident is
under investigation.
