HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A former Guntersville police officer who
was shot while answering a domestic disturbance call in 1993 died
Friday at Marshall Medical Center North.
Bishop of Arab, who was an officer in Guntersville for
about five years, was shot in the spine just below his protective
vest, paralyzing him below the waist.
Cecil Eugene Looney, now 43, was sentenced to 70 years in prison
for shooting Bishop and another 10 years for shooting his wife, and
was denied parole last month.
The Huntsville times reports that Alabama's parole board says
Looney won't be eligible for parole consideration again until
