Alabama man sentenced to life without parole

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - A judge in Florence has ordered a 32-year-old man to spend the rest of his life in prison for trying to kill the brother of a man shot to death two years ago hours before he was to testify at a trial.

Marcus Dewayne Lee was convicted in October of attempted murder
and firing into an occupied vehicle.

Lauderdale County Circuit Judge Gil Self sentenced Lee to life
in prison without the possibility of parole.

Lee had three prior felony convictions.

The TimesDaily reports that Dee Koger testified at the trial in October that Lee shot at him several times while he was driving in July 2008.

Prosecutors said Koger's brother, Willie, was killed three months earlier before he was to testify against one of Lee's
associates.
