Jackson County Raid Finds 250 Pounds of Marijuana

STEVENSON, Ala. (AP) - A raid by federal, state and local law
enforcement agents has turned up 250 pounds of marijuana at a
Jackson County home.

The Huntsville Times reports Wednesday that 57-year-old Gary Lee
"Chicken" Hawes was arrested and charged with trafficking after
the Tuesday raid.

Chief Deputy Chuck Phillips said Hawes is expected to be
transferred from the County Jail in Scottsboro to a federal holding
facility and a federal drug charge is anticipated.
