BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Several airlines are adding extra flights to make it easier for University of Alabama football fans to get to Pasadena to watch the Crimson Tide in the BCS championship game.
WVUA-TV reports that flights between Birmingham and Los Angeles filled up pretty quickly after the Tide beat the University of Florida Gators in the SEC championship game. Alabama faces the University of Texas in Pasadena on January 7th.
Delta Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Continental airlines have all added flights between Birmingham Shuttlesworth and Los Angeles
International on and around January 7th.
A spokesperson for the Birmingham airport also says they have a lot of charter flights making the trip.
Airport officials anticipate extra crowds and advise fans to arrive a full two hours before their flight to California is supposed to leave.
