Birmingham Mayoral Candidate Found Dead At His Home

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Birmingham mayoral candidate has been
found dead at his home.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office says 49-year-old Ernie
Shardon Dunn died at his home in Hoover shortly after 7 p.m.

Dunn had a history of medical problems that authorities said
they believe led to his death.

Hoover Police Capt. Jim Coker said a neighbor walking by the
home saw Dunn's door was partially open and that he was laying on
the floor. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Dunn was profiled by the Birmingham News on Friday. He told the
paper he was running for office because he needs a job.

Birmingham's deputy city clerk said the ballots for Tuesday's
election have already been printed and Dunn's name will be on them.
