AL Ranks 3rd Lowest in State & Local Taxes

Residents and companies paid less taxes than people and businesses in any other state in the 2007 fiscal year.

Governor Bob Riley says low taxes are incentives to bring in more businesses and retirees.

However, others debate the low taxes limit the government's ability to provide good schools, roads and other services.
