BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Jefferson County jury on has found a
43-year-old man guilty in a Jan. 11 shooting death of a man on an
interstate highway near Birmingham.
Charlie Joe Wilson Jr. of Birmingham, a member of the Sin City
motorcycle club, was convicted of murdering Charles Bevelle, a
33-year-old Bessemer man who was president of the Sho' Nuff
motorcycle club. Wilson faces up to life in prison when he is
sentenced on Dec. 11.
The prosecution contended that on the night of the murder,
Wilson was involved in a fight between Bevelle and Sin City members
at another club's facility.
Wilson's attorney, Eric Guster, said he planned to appeal. he
said he needed more time to subpoena materials from the A&E show
"The First 48," which featured the case.
