A local athletic program got some financial help from the state of Alabama.
Senator Harri Anne Smith of Slocomb and State Representative Benjamin Lewis presented a check for more than $20,000 dollars to the city of Rehobeth.
Mayor Joe Collins then presented it to the high school's girl’s softball team.
Most of the money will be used to upgrade the softball field.
“We're excited about what's going on here in here in Rehobeth its a growing community and they've got a great girls softball program and they're going to use this money to help improve their field,” said Sen. Smith.
“These girls work so hard and I mean I know other teams work hard too but they work so hard and it's just so nice to have our own field that we can take care of and we can take pride in,” said Head Softball Coach Summer Chandler.
