A local church is reaching out to the area's Hispanic population, making sure they focus on their health.

About 500 people showed up for a health fair in Dothan Saturday.

The "Feria de Salud" was held at Saint Columba Catholic Church.

It gave Spanish-speakers, a quick health check-up and access to information they may not have been able to get otherwise.

Organizers say events like these are designed to help Hispanics translate any kind of information in order to live long and healthy lives.

“People that came, they do not have an education and they feel scared if they go to the doctor. They have communication problems because they cannot speak English very well,” said organizer Wilson Garzon.

Organizers hope to hold similar events in the future.

With all the hispanic illegal aliens in the Wiregrass they need a fair. Just wish they had car insurance to cover all the DUI accidents they are involved in. Whats the status of that illegal who killed those newly weds in Enterprise?
