VINCENT, Ala. (AP) - A former Vincent pastor has been convicted of murder in the 2005 killing of his wife.
A Shelby County jury deliberated for less than two hours Friday before finding that Timothy Dane Tillman shot 40-year-old Janet Lorita Tillman because he wanted to move on to a second life he had been carrying on while married.
The Birmingham News reports Tillman is being held without bond. He faces life in prison and is scheduled to be sentenced on Dec. 14.
The former pastor of the Revival Center in Vincent was also found guilty of forging a $5,000 check in his wife's name a few months after her death.
He had said the shooting was an accident and happened when his shotgun accidentally fired while he was cleaning it, striking his wife in the back.
