5 people, including 2 girls, hurt in Alabama crash

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A chain reaction crash has sent five
people to the hospital.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the accident, which occurred on Highway 53 around 7:30 p.m. Monday.

The Huntsville Times reports that a two vehicle accident apparently started the chain of events that led to one and possibly two people being hit by other vehicles.

Don Webster, Chief Operating Officer for HEMSI said that 21-year-old David Droloinr of Athens was struck by a vehicle after he got out to check on the damage from the first accident.

He remains in extremely critical condition.

46-year-old David B. Freeman of Ardmore is listed in stable condition at Huntsville Hospital.

Also hurt were 19-year-old Kelly Jones of Athens, 9-year-old Madison Jones of Toney and 12-year-old Ciara Allen.

Both girls were taken to Huntsville Women's and Children's hospital with minor injuries.
