Police: 2 arrested at meth lab in Montgomery hotel

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Police say two Montgomery residents were operating a small meth lab out of a hotel room and have been arrested.

Police Capt. Keith Barnett said security at the America's Best Inn called authorities around 1:15 a.m. Monday and reported a strong smell of ammonia coming from a guest room.

Police charged 31-year-old Siubo Souvannasing and 23-year-old Starr Sullins with manufacturing a controlled substance.

Official said the two are wanted on similar charges in Elmore County.

The hotel was evacuated but was cleared for guests to return at 7:30 a.m.

Barnett said the lab had not started production and was not capable of producing large amounts of the drug.
