dapper these days.
Officers are now required to wear their hats when they are
outside. It's a change brought on by interim chief Lester Hargrove.
The interim chief says the hat looks more professional and is an
important part of visibility for officers.
Donald Scott, president of the Alabama Police Benevolent
Association, says the new policy can be tough for field officers
who are chasing a suspected robber or directing traffic in the hot
The policy could stick, though. Hargrove has applied for the
chief's job, which is expected to be filled soon.
