BILOXI, Miss. – Veterans who are enrolled in the Department of Veterans Affairs Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System will soon receive a letter regarding two seasonal flu vaccine sessions that will be held at all of the VAGCVHCS facilities on Oct. 17.
These sessions are scheduled to be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 3 p.m.
Veterans seeking a seasonal flu vaccine during one of these sessions should bring their letter and visit one of the VAGCVHCS facilities in Biloxi, Miss., Mobile, Ala., Pensacola, Fla., Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. and Panama City, Fla.
Veterans who have not yet enrolled to receive VA health care and want to receive a flu shot should bring their DD Form 214 or other proof of honorable military service to one of the clinics during normal operating hours. Those dates and times are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The seasonal flu vaccine will not protect against the H1N1 virus. The H1N1 vaccine is not yet available from the VAGCVHCS.
