HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Lawyers for a man accused of killing two teens in a Huntsville car crash are asking to have the trial location changed.
The attorneys filed a motion asking a Madison County judge to move Felix Ortega's trial to another county due to publicity the case has received over the past five months.
Ortega is charged with two counts of murder in the April deaths of 16-year-old Leigh Anna Jimmerson and her 19-year-old boyfriend Tad Mattle.
He was driving a pickup truck that struck Mattle's car from behind and the car burst into flames. Ortega, who entered the U.S. illegally, had an outstanding warrant for driving under the influence at the time of the crash.
Circuit Judge Loyd Little has not ruled on the motion.
