MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - A Mobile police officer has been suspended for 160 hours without pay for hitting a man in an altercation caught on YouTube following a car chase.
Police officials said in a release Friday that Officer Patrick Luckett was found to be in violation of Mobile Police Department rules concerning the use of force.
Luckett was suspended for his actions during the arrest of 34-year-old David Pate on July 23 following a chase through west Mobile.
Police said two police cars were struck during the chase.
Mobile Mayor Sam Jones directed that Luckett be suspended after a review by a non-adversarial trial board.
Jones also ordered that Luckett be reassigned to the field operations division and that he participate in use of force training.
