Some wiregrass residents tried to "outrun the law" this morning in the third annual "Trot with S.W.A.T." race.

Dozens of runners and walkers pounded the pavement in either a 5 or 10k race.

The event helps raise money for the Dothan Police Department's S.W.A.T. team.

Officials use the money to purchase necessary equipment and supplies to effectively do their jobs.

Authorities say it's important to interact with the public during positive events like these.

“Anytime we can get involved in the community services and stuff, we do it. We’ve done playground projects, the swat team has been very proactive in habitat for humanity building and it brings awareness to the people what we do and what the police department does,” said Dothan police officer Ken Long.

News 4 personalities Rhiana Huckins and Martha Spencer ran in the race!

Were there any people at the race with banners or posters to support the runners? I heard there was a good picture of one lady on your Saturday news broadcast. Will we get to see that picture again?
