86-year-old homeowner shoots alleged thief

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Montgomery police have arrested an
86-year-old they believe shot a woman in the head after she stole
money from his home.

James Murphy was charged with murder Wednesday in the death of
48-year-old Dorothy Webster.

Montgomery police found Webster about 11 a.m. Wednesday lying on
the front porch of Murphy's home.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Webster came to Murphy's house and was
allowed inside to use the restroom.

While inside , police say Webster allegedly stole $41.

When Webster started to leave the residence, Murphy got his
.38-caliber revolver and fired one time at her while she was
walking out the door.

Police say the single shot hit Webster in the head and killed her.
