GOP candidate calls for review of $13M no-bid deal

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill
Johnson is urging Gov. Bob Riley to review a nearly $13 million
computer contract that went to a business without a phone number,
Web site or business address.

The contract that went to Paragon Source LLC has been
temporarily held up by a legislative panel that also questioned it.

Acting State Finance Director Bill Newton has defended the
contract, and Riley aides say they expect the governor will sign
it.

Johnson, a former Ribley cabinet member whose agency oversaw
millions in contracts, said in a letter Monday the no-bd contract
warrants more scrutiny.
