CHEROKEE, Ala. (AP) - The mayor of a town in northwest Alabama says political opponents are coming at him from a new direction.
One filed a complaint over a golf cart his sick wife uses to visit neighbors.
Police in Cherokee this week served a court summons on Tina Lansdell, the wife of Mayor Chuck Lansdell. They also had complaints against her 16-year-old son and Thelma Lambert, a longtime friend and City Council member.
Lansdell said he bought the golf cart about three years ago so his wife, who has multiple sclerosis, could go visit neighbors.
He says the complaint was filed by a woman who comes to every City Council meeting to voice complaints. That woman is a neighbor of the mayor.
