HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (AP) - A police officer has been arrested for allegedly forging prescriptions and trying to fill them at a pharmacy.
Sgt. Mark Roberts said 35-year-old Jimmy Shane Hitt was charged Thursday with trying to obtain drugs by fraud and attempting to possess a controlled substance.
Hitt, who was released from the Madison County Jail on a $10,000 bond, has been suspended from active duty and placed on administrative leave. He has been with the department for seven years.
The department's Major Crimes Unit and the Strategic Counterdrug Team investigated the case. It was not clear if Hitt had a lawyer Friday.
