Alabama EMA officials are only making minor adjustments in hurricane preparations for this year.

Although small tweaks are made to the plan each year state officials say being prepared for a storm starts at home with your family.

You should make sure you have enough food, water and other essentials to last 72-hours without power.

"We have had a lot of things work correctly in the state of Alabama and basically because we have a governor there that's really concerned with public awareness, public preparedness and also having his departments and agencies conduct operations in the right manner," said Don Hartley with Alabama EMA.
