Although small tweaks are made to the plan each year state officials say being prepared for a storm starts at home with your family.
You should make sure you have enough food, water and other essentials to last 72-hours without power.
"We have had a lot of things work correctly in the state of Alabama and basically because we have a governor there that's really concerned with public awareness, public preparedness and also having his departments and agencies conduct operations in the right manner," said Don Hartley with Alabama EMA.
