Man charged with murder in Sylacauga

SYLACAUGA, Ala. (AP) - A Sylacauga man has been charged with
murder in what authorities believe is the city's first homicide
since December 2007.

Police say 18-year-old Ferlandez Lamar Cook has been charged
with murder in the Tuesday evening shooting death of 30-year-old
Trevan Hale, also of Sylacauga.

District Judge Jeb Fannin set a bond of $100,000 on Cook.

Emergency personnel found Hale on the street with a gunshot wound.

He was transported to Coosa Valley Medical Center, where he died.

Police say Cook turned up at the hospital with a gunshot wound,
and was treated and then arrested.
