MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - A new scholarship program will allow
two-year college system graduates in Alabama to complete a
four-year degree free at Alabama State University or Alabama A&M
Education officials announced Wednesday the Transfer Scholarship
Program that will provide scholarships for up to 500 graduates of
community or technical college this fall. The number could jump to
1,000 per year.
The program was funded by the Legislature with $1 million from
the state Education Trust Fund.
Alabama Community College System Interim Chancellor Joan Davis
said the system serves more than half of the state's freshmen and
sophomores, and this gives them a chance to earn bachelor's degrees
