Alabama Guard member to be buried at Arlington

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - An Alabama National Guard Special Forces officer killed in Afghanistan will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

State Guard headquarters says Capt. Ron Luce, 27, was killed Aug. 2 in Qole Gerdsar, Afghanistan, when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device.

Luce was a member of the 20th Special Forces Group headquartered in Birmingham.

The Fayetteville, N.C., native was assigned to the 20th Group's 1st Battalion in Huntsville. Services for Luce, who served as a team commander at the time of his death, were held on Friday at Fort Bragg, N.C. He is survived by his wife, Kendahl, and a daughter, Carrie.
