DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - An Ashford teenager remains in jail without
bond after he pleaded guilty to the raping a 3-year-old girl.
David Lee Flowers, 17, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to first-degree rape.
He will be sentenced next month and is facing 10 to 99 years in prison.
Under a new law, Flowers would not be eligible for parole because the child is younger than 12.
Houston County Sheriff's investigators arrested Flowers on Mar.
25, 2008 and he has been held without bond since his arrest.
His attorney tried to get Flowers' case tried in juvenile court because
he was 16 at the time of the crime.
According to state law, anyone 16 or older can be tried as an adult if they are charged with a class A felony, such as first-degree rape.
