Shelby to oppose Sotomayor for Supreme Court

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Both of Alabama's Republican U.S. senators have now come out against Judge Sonia Sotomayor's nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Sen. Richard Shelby says he can't support her because of concerns about her willingness to properly uphold fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution.

Shelby's decision came after Sen. Jeff Sessions voted against Sotomayor in the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday.

Sotomayor's nomination is now headed to the Senate.
