Drug probe at Alabama Statehouse kept under wraps

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Lawmakers also say they want to know why they were not informed of the incident involving maintenance worker Lorenza Hooks for years and wonder if a cover up and more people were involved.

State Rep. Alvin Holmes, D-Montgomery, said he believes drugs may have been provided to others at the Statehouse.

The drugs were found in a backpack in former state Rep. Bobby
Humphryes' office in December 2006.

Hooks admitted that the backpack was his, but said the drugs and drug paraphernalia were not.
