DOTHAN, Ala. (AP) - Investigators have arrested a Newville woman
accused of stealing more than $70,000 from an Abbeville bank while
working for it.
Henry County Sheriff's Lt. Clyde Hornsby said he charged 30-year-old Donna Cureton, a former Ameris Bank employee, with property theft Monday.
Cureton was released Tuesday on $130,000 bond. Her lawyer, Tom
Brantley, said she was innocent.
Cureton, who worked as a customer service representative and assistance loan officer, allegedly stole the money in at least three separate segments since 2007.
Auditors discovered the thefts late last month, and notified the sheriff last week.
