BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A 19-year-old Birmingham man has been charged with attempted murder after driving a van straight at three Jefferson County sheriff's deputies trying to get him to stop.
The Jefferson County sheriff's department said a 14-year-old girl was found with a gunshot wound at the same scene.
Jeffrey Lloyd Grant has been charged with three counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, reckless endangerment, resisting
arrest and third-degree burglary.
Deputies responded at about 1 a.m. Sunday to reports of a fight involving a large group of teenagers and possible shots fired, sheriff's spokesman Lt. Randy Christian said.
He said there were about 200 teens standing in the roadway.
The 14-year-old girl was in stable condition Sunday afternoon.
Her shooting was under investigation.
