MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - One of the leading manufacturers of gambling machines is trying to get involved in the legal battle over electronic bingo in Alabama.
Bally Gaming Inc. of Las Vegas has asked the Alabama Supreme Court to not make any finding about the legality of the bingo machines until the company can offer evidence about its games in a civil suit the governor has filed in Lowndes County.
The case before the Supreme Court is about the legality of the raid by the Governor's Task Force on Illegal Gambling on the White Hall Resort and Entertainment Center in March.
The governor's civil suit challenges the legality of the machines seized in that raid. Bally did supply the machines in White Hall. It filed court papers in support of the gambling hall.
