MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Public Service Commission President Lucy
Baxley has fallen and broken her hip.

Baxley's executive assistant, Lisa Parrish, said she fell Tuesday morning while getting in the car to go to work. She went ahead to work, attended a PSC meeting and other meetings, but began to feel increasing pain around noon.

Parrish said Baxley went to Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. Doctors determined she had broken her hip and began surgery late Tuesday afternoon.

The 71-year-old Baxley has limited use of her legs because of a
stroke she suffered in 2006.
