MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama state troopers report they made 152 drunken driving arrests and issued slightly more than 3,000 speeding tickets during the long Fourth of July holiday weekend.
A trooper spokesman, Cpl. Steve Jarrett, says troopers also issued nearly 1,100 seat belt citations and 84 citations for child restraint violations.
The state Department of Public Safety used extra patrols during the busy weekend to try to keep down accidents. State troopers investigated three fatal accidents. They said two of the fatalities appeared alcohol related.
