MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- The trial of a fourth former prison employee accused in an inmate beating death is scheduled July 8 in Montgomery.

U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson set the trial date for former Ventress Correctional Facility officer Joseph Sanders. He's accused of violating the civil rights of inmate Rocrast Mack and conspiring to cover up Mack's death. A former Ventress supervisor, Michael Smith, was convicted Tuesday and is not yet scheduled for sentencing.

Thompson has scheduled sentencing July 30 for two former Ventress officers who pleaded guilty in the case several months ago.

Scottie Glenn and Matthew Davidson admitted violating Mack's rights and conspiring with other officers to cover up what happened.

Mack died Aug. 5, 2010, after being severely beaten the previous night at the prison in Clayton.
