Soldier from Jasper due home soon killed in Iraq

JASPER, Ala. (AP) - Tina Rigsby said her son, Cpl. Dusty Parrish died Thursday, just about a month shy of his expected return from Iraq in July.

The Department of Defense has not released an official account
of the circumstances of Parrish's death, btu Rigsby said he was on
a reconnaissaince mission to clear land mines.

Rigsby said her son was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in
Missouri and had recently reenlisted. She said he had been in Iraq
14 months.

In addition to his mother, Parrish leaves behind his wife and a
4-year-old son.
