MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Police cornered a bank robbery suspect on a dead-end dirt street in Prichard after chasing him from Interstate 65 in Mobile.
Police spokesman Officer Christopher Levy says 47-year-old Jeffrey Michael Pugh of Gulf Shores was arrested Monday and charged in a holdup earlier in the day at a Compass Bank branch.
Levy says a gun was used in the robbery, but it's unclear howmuch money was stolen. He says the suspect's 1992 GMC Rally Wagon was spotted headed north on I-65 and police chased him for several miles.
Pugh was taken to Mobile County Metro Jail. A Mobile police officer's patrol car was involved in an accident with another car during the chase. Two people in the other car had minor injuries.
