Alpharetta police kill armed man

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (AP) - Alpharetta police officers responding to a disturbance call shot and killed a man.

Police Officer George Gordon says officers responded to a disturbance call Monday morning on Douglas Road and found a man sitting alone in a pickup truck.

He says the man got out of the truck and pointed a gun at the officers. One or both officers shot the man, killing him. His name was not immediately released.

Gordon says police found containers of alcohol in the man's truck.

Both officers have been placed on administrative leave while the shooting is being investigated by the G.B.I. The officers names also were not released.
