Mobile man charged with murder in fatal wreck

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - State troopers have charged 29-year-old Carl Lavern Miller of Mobile with murder in a wreck that killed two men.

Jail records show that Miller has been charged with two counts of murder and one count of leaving the scene of an accident with injury. He remains in Mobile County Metro Jail with a bond hearing set Tuesday.

Troopers say Miller was the driver of a 1996 GMC pickup truck that went off Ramsey Road in Grand Bay and struck a tree about 7:30 p.m. Friday.

The wreck killed 17-year-old Billy J. Miller and 20-year-old Joseph M. Miller, both of Mobile. It was unclear whether the occupants of the truck were related to each other.

Carl Miller and 19-year-old Jason Everett, also of Mobile, were injured.
