BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A fire swept through the 97-year-old
Woodlawn United Methodist Church in Birmingham during a church
Firefighters were called to the blaze around 1:45 p.m. Sunday.
The roof was in flames and the stained glass windows had burst.
It appears that the building will be a complete loss.
About a dozen people were inside when the fire broke out. The
church was being used by the Bethel Metropolitan Community Church
No one was injured.
