PRICHARD, Ala. (AP) - Prichard Police Officer Patrick Kynaston has been treated for minor injuries he received from being dragged by a vehicle during an attempt to question the driver.
The incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. Saturday when the officer
spotted a vehicle at a gas station and attempted to question the driver about a burglary.
Prichard police spokeswoman Latoya Veal says when the driver sped away, Kynaston held to the steering wheel and fired three shots before falling. A videotape from the gas station showed what happened.
Police identified the suspect who eluded capture as 34-year-old Dewayne Lamont "Dollar" Jackson of Prichard.
Veal says Kynaston was taken to Mobile Infirmary for treatment of minor injuries and expects to return to work by Friday.
