MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a 5-year-old girl fired a rifle shot that passed through her family's trailer and a trailer across the street, where several adults and children were home.
Nobody was hurt, but Mobile County authorities are looking into Friday's incident in Irvington to determine whether the girl's parents should be charged with child endangerment.
The neighbor, William Hodge, said he was on his porch about 3 p.m. when the bullet struck his trailer just feet from his 18-month-old son's bedroom.
Hodge said his neighbors told him the gun was on a bed and was supposed to be unloaded, but somehow the safety got knocked off and the child pulled the trigger.
