459 Marijuana Plants Destroyed in DeKalb County

FORT PAYNE, Ala. (AP) -- The DeKalb County sheriff reports that more than 450 marijuana plants have been found in the northeast Alabama county during the last few days.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said members of the DeKalb County Drug Task Force, state Department of Public Safety and Air National Guard used air and ground forces to find and destroy plants grow in the wild. He said over 100 plants were found near Fort Payne and one person was arrested. More than 350 plants were located near Mentone. He said one arrest is expected in that case.

The sheriff said the 459 plants had a value of about $900,000.
