BESSEMER, Ala. (AP) - A 25-year-old Bessemer man has been charged with capital murder in connection with a double homicide.
Victor Smoot is being held without bond in the Jefferson County Jail in Bessemer in connection with the shooting deaths of 32-year-old Andrew Burney and 31-year-old John Onoijuanfo.
Witnesses said Burney and Onoijuanfo were visiting the neighborhood where they grew up in Bessemer when an altercation began over a card game.
The two men, who were not involved in the card game or altercation, were shot.
