ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) - Investigators are seeking the cause of a
mobile home fire in Anniston that killed a woman and a child.
Calhoun County Coroner Pat Brown says Joanne Glass, in her 50s,
and 4-year-old Abbanie Butts, who is believed to be her grandchild,
died in the blaze Saturday.
Both died at the fire scene from smoke inhalation.
The report of the Colvin Street fire came as a 911 call at 3:12
Two other adults and two other children escaped.
Anniston police and the State Fire Marshal's Office are part of the investigating team. Officials say the fire appears to be accidental, possibly from smoking.
