MONTEVALLO, Ala. (AP) - A wet spring has prompted officials at
Alabama's newest veterans cemetery to delay burials until sometime
Interments were scheduled to begin in May.
Construction at the 479-acre Alabama National Cemetery in
Montevallo has been slowed by recent rainfall.
Work crews are set to finish phase one by June 5.
Christopher English, the cemetery's senior engineer, said
officials won't announce a date for burials until all work is done.
A Memorial Day ceremony is still scheduled for 9 a.m. at the
cemetery off Alabama 119.
